Ages 7-12: Children learn to bat, catch, throw and run the bases in both traditional and cooperative versions of this baseball-type game. After playing by the “rules” children will be challenged to invent new ways to play.
In Whiffle Ball we use the standard and larger plastic bats with large size, but softer plastic balls. This eliminates the fear of injury and fear of failure.
We use the cooperatives games strategy of collective scoring in which the teams simply attempt to score more runs than they achieved during a previous game. Rather than just –playing the games taught by the coach, the players will be challenged to create their own adaptations and rule structures using collaborative skills that contribute to team building and group problem solving.
As progressive corporations and business leaders have learned collaborative skills lead to happier employees and more profitable companies.
